Big Life Adventures: Where To Next

She remembered who she was and the game changed.

Lalah Delia

I’ve pondered for a long time about what I want this blog to become and really, what I ultimately want to build. I’ve often been asked by someone close to me “what’s your why?” and “why now?”

Those questions have often led to frustration as I struggled to fully express my ideas but after a very difficult personal journey over the last few years, I finally understood what I have that’s of value to my fellow solo travellers.

We love recounting stories of our travels and all the fun things we do, the people we meet, the things we learnt along the way, right? We’re the dreamers, the spontaneous adventurers, the ones who love to embrace life.

But not all of us are confident, or extroverted or as ‘put-together’ as we like to think we are. And that’s where I come in.

I fell into solo travelling a little unintentionally and it’s become a bit of an obsession; I caught the travel bug and never looked back!

I adore telling friends about “that time in…” or when “I did …. in ….". To be totally honest, I think people were at first pretty bored of me going on and on about travelling.

But the more I travelled solo, the more people began to tell me that I was brave, or that they wished they had the confidence to travel solo too.

Now I’m always being asked “where to next then?” or “when’s the next trip, where are you off to this time?” (Not going to lie, this was a dream of mine for YEARS 🩷).

But yeah, do I have the 'for the gram' posing nailed? Absolutely not, I’m that awkward person trying to pull selfie stick poses while trying not to hide my embarrassment from everyone else around me.

Am I confident in myself? Yes, but that absolutely does not mean I am not shy as heck around strangers. Like, I’m that super shy person who struggles to say hello to someone if I have to approach them first. But put me with someone bubbly, you won’t shut me up.

I’m also clumsy as heck, with a handful of disastrous luck to top it off. Like I have literally tripped and fallen after taking one small step forward…right in front of my boss.

And I’ll get round to telling you about that time I very nearly fainted right at the front of a packed plane. My traveller guardian angel definitely facepalms at me way too often.

But those stories are all the things I’m here to share with you. All the amazing things I’ve seen and done on my travels, as well as all the absolute disasters (of which there are many!).

This blog will allow my creativity to flow and to challenge me – by helping you to learn the lessons I had to learn the hard way.

I will be sharing all the things I’ve learnt from all the places I’ve seen, with the hopes that your solo travels will be a bit more organised and less chaotic than mine have often been.

So it doesn’t matter your age, your passport, your travel style or experience (or lack of) – join me on this wonderful solo travel journey as we females learn how to navigate the world safely and unapologetically.

The only thing I have left to ask is – “where to next?”
